Books of the Month: May 2019

  • Maid, Stephanie Land, memoir ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is in the same strain as Evicted that I read last month, exposing the reality of poverty in America. In contrast, this is autobiographical and the story of one woman rather than several families. It was heartbreaking to read about her circumstances and challenges in raising her daughter as a single mom struggling to make ends meet.

  • Precious Little Sleep, Alexis Dubief, parenting ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I read this in anticipation of helping baby girl sleep better. Right now there’s not much I can do, so I’ll let you know in a few months if the advice was actually helpful for us. The book was really informative and honestly fun to read. The author is funny and seems like she knows what she’s talking about. I can see us referencing this book a lot in the months to come.
